City of Fort Myers, Fleet Maintenance Canopy
Fort Myers, FL
Exterior Renovation
At the Fort Myers Public Works Department, we executed a turnkey project involving the seamless demolition and removal of a damaged maintenance shelter affixed to an existing masonry structure. Simultaneously, we constructed a new prefabricated metal building system, ensuring full compliance with AISC 360 standards.
In close collaboration with our demolition partners, we maintained a clean and organized site at the end of each day, with a strong focus on safety and minimizing disruptions throughout the project.
Case Study
The original schematic design showed a canopy that was roughly 18’ clearance and was engineered to attach to the existing structure. Though the delegated design process, Valor discovered that the City’s maintenance manager wanted over 18’ clearance, which ultimately conflicted with the existing buildings storm drainage. Working with our subcontractors, our design team was able to re-engineer the canopy and foundations to be completely independent of the existing structure, obtain the additional maintenance clearance request, and ensured the independent structures architectural alignment.
Project Hurdles: While working within an active maintenance facility, our team performed all demolition and concrete activities at night to ensure minimal disruption to operations and coordinated with other contractors working within the facility.
